Berlin Zoo

Today is our free day in Berlin! A while ago, a group of us decided to go to the Berlin Zoo. Unfortunately, the weather forecast predicted rain throughout the morning. Although I considered going to the Jewish Museum for the morning, I decided instead to join some students to the indoor aquarium instead.

The aquarium was a good size and housed a variety of different fish, reptiles, amphibians, and insects. My favorite part was definitely the insects. There was a huge ant exhibit that spanned across an entire room via walkway tubes. In addition, the walking sticks and praying mantis had amazing camouflage. It was fun to see who could count the most insects in an exhibit. Out of all the cool insects, I have to say that the Madagascar Hissing Cockroach is my favourite!

Once the rain stopped, we headed outside to the main zoo to look at the animals and to eat. We were lucky enough to be able to view the feeding time for the seals and the wolves. The seals performed some cool tricks, caught their food in mid-air, and chased after their food. The wolves on the other hand ripped whole birds and rabbits apart and fought with one another for food. It was fun to see the animals so lively during feeding time.

After eating, we explored the rest of the zoo and even visited the petting zoo. The were a multitude of goats and sheep as well as a few miniature horses.

After the zoo, I went to eat dinner near Alexanderplatz.

Tomorrow is our last full day in a Germany! I hope it will be fun!
